Call for ECR Representative in STRN Steering group

As many of you already have read in the latest STRN newsletter, the current STRN governance structure is under revision (check out this recent blog on STRN website for more). Part of this change is a continuous renewal of the Steering Group (SG). Therefore, the Steering Group is looking for STRN members to (self-)nominate candidates for election as SG members in the upcoming period Fall 2016 to 2018.

After some successful lobbying, the SG has decided that two of the four open positions are available for early career researchers (PhD candidates or Post-Docs). We are very happy with this decision and are excited with the advent of a strong voice representing our ECR community.

The job profile is very straightforward. They are looking for researchers who want to actively contribute to further developing the STRN community. Together with approximately 15 scholars you will provide advice on the development of the network. SG members also take on specific tasks, e.g. organization of IST conference and workshops, renewal of the STRN research agenda or maintaining exchange with other research communities.

We think this is a great opportunity for ECR’s to get some experience in the governance side of academic life and, more importantly, for ECR’s to have a voice in the further development of our academic community. It’s now up to us to show them that our community has plenty of strong candidates to fill this position!

If you are or know a suitable candidate, you can directly send your application to no later than July 31st. New SG members will be elected by the current SG in August. Simply provide a brief (up to 1 page) profile of yourself, including background, research interests, motivations, and if relevant (expected) year of PhD.
